Physical Therapy

The goal of Physical Therapy is to restore individuals to their highest possible level of function for those experiencing neuromuscular or skeletal dysfunction. Therapists evaluate patients and devise individualized therapeutic treatment programs which may include:

• Exercise programs to help increase muscle function, coordination, endurance and mobility

• Training in bed mobility, gait stability, posture and positioning 

• Joint and soft tissue mobilization to increase range of motion

• Wound Care

• Adaptive equipment training

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists use therapeutic activities to assist individuals in adapting to their social and physical environment. Therapists adapt task and modify the environment to enhance each resident or patient’s ability to function.  Services may include:

• Education and training in daily living skills such as dressing, bathing, eating and grooming

• Activities for memory, orientation and cognitive integration  

• Adaptive techniques or equipment to overcome physical disabilities

• Strengthening and coordination exercises

• Exercises to reduce the effects of arthritis or other conditions to maintain normal joint movement

Speech Language-Pathology

Speech–Language Pathologists address problems people have with communication and swallowing dysfunction.  Therapists aid in the recovery of speech, language and swallowing functions as well as memory.  Treatment plans are designed for each individual’s needs, and may include: 

• Verbal and non-verbal communication, including the use of augmentative systems when necessary

• Oral muscle strength and functioning for speaking and swallowing

• Swallowing skills and techniques within an individuals limitations

• Compensation for word-finding problems

• Learn listening strategies

• Overcome swallowing disorders
