In 1957, the property which had operated for many years as a nursing home, was acquired by Forest Haven, Inc., Faye Maguire, administrator, owner, and Catonsville resident until her death in 1991. Two new modern brick buildings were added at a later date, another modern addition was constructed in 2009. Together they accommodate 167 residents at full capacity. Since then it has been owned by Trustee for benefit of John Haggerty, son of Faye Maguire, who has devoted his full time maintaining the nursing home since April 12, 1975.

Faye Maguire was a self-made business person and excellent financial manager who grew the nursing home from a facility with less than fifty (50) beds to 174 beds. At this point it was decided that the facility could be best managed with a smaller population. At present the facility has 167 beds to give the best possible care and service to its residents.

Forest Haven has always been a family owned and operated nursing home and its residents are treated as part of its extended family.

All of its operations are centered at its Catonsville location and there is no need to go to "headquarters" for important decisions, as is the case in the operation of nursing home chains. The care provided residents is "hands on" by all levels of management at Forest Haven.
